BGHC Direct Support Professionals are responsible for working in collaboration with a diverse team of dedicated staff to provide In-Home Supports to Washington DC residents and support them to live successfully at home and in the community.

Our DSPs have a strong passion to help others, an ability to build and grow health relationships, and a strong desire to make a difference in the lives of others! 

Our DSPs provide assistance to recipients of the IDD Medicaid Waiver in all areas of daily life activities including, but not limited to social, physical, psychological and behavioral supports in Washington DC. In-Home Supports are home care services for recipients of the Medicaid Waiver Developmental Disabilities Services. 

 A completion of required trainings in compliance with State and Federal regulations, standards of service, safety and quality of care are mandatory to support individuals with developmental disabilities per BGHC policies and procedures and governing agencies in the District of Columbia. 

• Providing support to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (ID/DD).
• Promoting self-management skills to increase independence in activities of daily living in home care services .
• Providing active treatment per the Individual Service Plan (ISP)
• Daily documentation and record keeping
• Medication administration
• Community integration and inclusion 

• Minimum of 6 months in health related field or home care services.
• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Basic knowledge of behavioral support for people with  intellectual and developmental disabilities.
• Valid drivers license in VA, DC or MD and safe driving record.
• First Aid and CPR
